Family trip to the pumpkin patch
I have been making a big deal about going to the pumpkin patch since before Haddie was even born. There is just something about going to one and picking out your very own special pumpkin. I had an even larger urge to go since this year would be little Haddie's first time ever!
I had it all picture perfect in my head...Daddy, Mommy and baby meandering through rows and rows of brightly orange colored squashes, taking fun pictures, Haddie wearing her adorable costume, drinking hot chocolate and jumping on hay stacks just enjoying each other's company and picking out our ideal pumpkins. A small, medium and large of course for Haddie, Mom and Dad.
Well, this is how our trip really went. It was planned to go this evening for the free hay rides and hot chocolate. Well we were hanging out with some friends when we decided we would just go earlier to avoid colder weather. So Haddie was not dressed up in her halloween outfit like I had planned, she had no beanie and I didn't bring the sling to carry her in. We could deal. -We thought we could deal- We get to the pumpkin patch and Hadster decides to wake up after being pulled from her cozy little cocoon. Can't blame her. She then starts crying but I get her to calm down. It was fairly warm and really sunny so that was nice. We start browsing and she starts crying again. So we "meander" rather quickly after that. The trip was cut a bit short, we didn't get many pictures like I had hoped, none with Emmett either, free hot chocolate and hay rides were only mondays and we dropped the one thing that was helping Haddie get back to sleep, her binky, in the dirt. Crying gets louder, we move faster.
It wasn't what I had pictured for our family's first pumpkin patch trip but it was still just as perfect in it's own special way. We each got a pumpkin, we got a couple pics, we went and bought our own hot chocolate mix and we got a fourth pumpkin to carve out and put Haddie in for a large cuteness factor later :) I can not wait to get a pic of her in a pumpkin!

She was actually sleeping through this picture.
One unhappy little pumpkin squasher. But look how small she looks next to them!
Okay. Listen. The sun was super bright in my face.
Emmett carried all four pumpkins in from the car. At once!
Oh, and our hot chocolate mix :)
I will be sure to get some pictures of Haddie in her costume and in her pumpkin ;)

My Wish
I hope the days come easy and the moments pass slowAnd each road leads you where you want to goAnd if you're faced with the choice and you have to chooseI hope you choose the one that means the most to you
And if one door opens to another door closedI hope you keep on walkin' ‘til you find the windowIf it's cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smileBut more than anything, more than anything
My wish for youIs that this life becomes all that you want it toYour dreams stay big, your worries stay smallYou never need to carry more than you can hold
And while you're out there gettin' where you're gettin' toI hope you know somebody loves youAnd wants the same things tooYeah, this is my wish
I hope you never look back but you never forgetAll the ones who love you and the place you leftI hope you always forgive and you never regretAnd you help somebody every chance you get
Oh, you'd find God's grace in every mistakeAnd always give more than you takeBut more than anything, yeah more than anything
My wish for youIs that this life becomes all that you want it toYour dreams stay big, your worries stay smallYou never need to carry more than you can hold
And while you're out there gettin' where you're gettin' toI hope you know somebody loves youAnd wants the same things tooYeah, this is my wish, yeah yeah
My wish for youIs that this life becomes all that you want it toYour dreams stay big, your worries stay smallYou never need to carry more than you can hold
And while you're out there gettin' where you're gettin' toI hope you know somebody loves youAnd wants the same things tooYeah, this is my wish...
for you, Miss Haddie, our little ray of sunshine

Adjusting to a life with a newborn
It hasn't been easy. Well ok it's been pretty easier considering. My mom and Grandma got into town the night I went into labor. Lucky right? They have been such a blessing and a huge help to Emmett and I. Heck, they even spent their whole last night here tending to Haddie so Emmett and I could get one good night of sleep in before we were on our own. We were burning out pretty fast there for a couple days. I really think they didn't mind doing this because my mom wanted to squeeze in as much time as possible with baby before she left the next morning. We had every meal made for us, dishes were always clean and put away, naps were had, diapers were changed..they made it pretty easy on us. GRATEFUL.
Sorry to Emmett because that just won't be the case anymore. I can already imagine what my house will look like given a matter of Though it was great having the 4 generations together for the last week I do think it's time to start handling business on our own now. - Don't worry mom, and to my mother in law, I will show Haddie pictures of you always and tell her who you are so she will always remember her grandmas when she gets to see you again :)
Yes, I'm a little scared, a little lonely and the quietness of the house, when baby is sleeping, is a tad, well, erie. It'll take some adjustment but I know we will be just fine. We got blessed with a terrific child. Nights aren't always easy but she has given us a couple of those nights where we get lots of sleeping hours in at a time. YAY. During the day she is full of smiles, eats like a CHAMP and sure knows how to imitate a squeak toy. She keeps us on our toes and definitely entertained.
Did I mention she eats like a champ? She sure does. In the hospital she lost 8% of her body weight (10% and drs start to REALLY worry.) She wouldn't eat much or go to the bathroom. This is why we had to stay 2 days instead of the 1. But as soon as we got her home she cranked up the appetite and gained all her weight back plus some. She was a petite 5lbs when we left, then at the dr she was over 6lbs and now I'm sure she is over 7lbs. You can see it in her little Budah cheeks :) So cute.
We are all doing great to say the least. I'm thrilled about our new adventures that await us. I couldn't have picked a better husband/baby daddy. He is up with every cry heard, takes shifts with me, cares for us both, deals with my emotional roller coaster and yet still manages to go to school and work.
Blessed beyond words.
Here is a little video that melts my heart. Emmett didn't know I was taking it at first.
See? BLESSED.
