Back to center

My friends used to call me names.

Names like:
Hippe.
Free bird.
Sunny D.
&&
Love Child.

I didn't mind.
I love to embrace the sun.
I love to embrace each day.
I lived each day.
A go with the flow kinda gal.

I did yoga in the mornings
&
sometimes danced away my evenings.
I loved everyone.
I tried to only see the good in people.
 I exercised POSITIVITY.
I welcomed good vibes.
Good music.

I think reggae has a bad rap with some people.
To me, it's feel good music.
Peace of mind goodness.
It makes me feel alive and powerful.
It relaxes me.
This song for instance...
it gets me
<3

It's been a while now since I embraced the person I was.
I think I was scared to be this person when I was in the midsts of
growing&molding
&giving up old habits.

Well, folks, I'm bringing the good vibes back!
&& I'm doing my yoga again dag nab it! :)
This is what I started with.
yoga for beginners HERE.

I love the Lord with all my being and I'm not forgetting Him in my life.
I'm grateful for all the blessings He has brought to me and for the Gospel and I know He is proud and happy with my life decisions.
& you know what?
So am I.

Alls I'm saying is I'm looking on the brighter side of life again.
I started to create a  'get through the day' attitude and that's now what I want or what the Lord wants for us.
Live each day as it's a blessing to you!

Adventures in food

The Fletcher's have this little OBSESSION with movies. Mostly like Disney, Pixar, Dreamworks kind of movies. It's pretty fan freaking tastic because I'm equally obsessed. Not one has ever let me down. Well besides Antz but that's another story.

Emmett is going to Peru in April for two weeks. This does tie into my movie thing I promise. Upon finding out about this he has a new Peru obsession and I'm really diggin it. It's adorable too. So anywho, one morning he woke up and said, " I want to make Pollo a la brasa!" I kid you not.
Now I hardly speak any Espanol so I definitely don't get Peruvian but I know what Pollo is.
(For those that don't, it's chicken. Smarty pants.)
Pollo a la brasa is a Peruvian dish that is supposably really popular. In one of his classes, Emmett and his classmates are designing, constructing and testing an oven to take to Peru and show the people how to make and use it. They want an oven to be able to make rotisserie chicken and other food. Which is basically the dish he wanted to try and create. This reminds me of the Taylor Swift song, Superman.  I just love Tswizzle.

He went online and researched lots and lots and LOTS of sites online looking at recipes and directions on how to cook it. After about an hr and a half, at least, of this he came up with a lengthy list and we hit the stores.
First stop, this bright pink building, "Mexicana Mercado". Ahh...seeing this place always reminds me of home. Err, Escondido. Ya, ok, home. Well we picked up some seriously strange items in little jars with words I can not even come close to pronouncing and I was wondering if he really even knew what we were purchasing. He tried to assure me this was all part of his class research. I still don't know if I buy that.

Okay, back to the movies. We all know the one, Emperor's New Groove do we not? Well on this day of making this chicken, (that has to marinate for SIX hours, did I mention that yet?), we had a bunch of fresh spinach I needed to do something with fast before it went bad. I decided to make spinach puffs which I had never done before and honestly didn't even know what they looked like.
Right then, it was like a giant pillar of light shone down on me and I had this thought, they make spinach puffs in this movie! FUN! So I said, jokingly, that we should have an Emperor's New Groove party and eat spinach puffs! Then Emmett, bright guy, brought up the fact that we were already having a Peruvian meal. In case you have been in a cave for years and never seen this amazing movie, it takes place in Peru. SHWWIIIING!!! Movie night with a themed meal. So on short notice we invited some people over to share in our adventure of new foods and a good movie. We also made little 'viles' of 'poison' and our brother and sister brought their own version of 'poison' that was super creative and just like in the movie!!

Well, I must say that the spinach puffs were surprisingly delicious and the chik- I mean pollo a la brasa was darn good too. I think we expected a little more flavor and a little less, um, well, burntness heh heh. But it was still tasty. And buying a few jars of mystery slime at a hole in the wall mercado on University Ave beats spending $23 to try it at a hole in the wall Peruvian 'restaurant'.

Definitely a meal we decided we would have to try again. Little did I know my husband would tell me that he was ready to again only a week later.

Yes, my llama looks like a scottish terrior. So what. I never said I was an artist.

Tra la la la love

Wait, it was Valentine's Day two days ago?!?!?
How could I have missed it!?
Jay Kay.
Like anyone could go without knowing, right?
I mean especially if you get on bookface you were probably bombarded with da loooove.

Not that I minded much. I absolutely LOVE the holiday. In all it's cheesyness glory.
ALL. OF. IT.

This meme basically describes how I felt this year though. Welllll, only a little.

Anywho..

My Husby and I decided, due to exams and other events, that we would celebrate our lovers day over the weekend.
I was pleasantly surprised when he came home and I found a giant hidden can on our shelf in the kitchen thursday night though.

I had to open that thing and trust me, even with a can opener it wasn't that easy!
Well when I opened it I found quiet a few pairs of beautiful earrings that I love, not one but two bottles of my favorite perfume that makes all the boys drool (again jay kay..heh, heh) and my favorite kinds of chocolates!! It was like a treasure hunt in a can! Sort of.

Anyways, for not expecting anything I was pretty ecstatic!
Friday night we went out to dinner at a Mexican restaurant we came across one day and loved.
Haddie joined us and she was all about those Shirley Temples.

Girl after my own heart.

Don't mind my face of shear SHOCK when she tried to spill all over me! She has been grabbing everything in sight lately and just this morning actually did spill all over me. Luckily it was just water.

When we got home we were tired but wanted some 'family pics' since we don't have too many of us all together.
Let's just throw this out there, the tiredness shows.

Like I said, Hads likes to grab everything in sight. Including faces. Which then she likes to 'kiss' you. It's actually pretty cute.
She seems to think the wetter the better.
No, she didn't get that from me!
Also, she will grab your nose, lips ears...whatever she can.
Yep, that's my little lovebuggy.

My family makes me happier than a  tornado in a trailer park!
Hope everyone had an amazing, Lovers Day, Valentine's Day, Singles Awareness Day..whatever you want to call it! <3

Just remember to spread the love each and EVERY day.
XOXOXO

A bathroom disaster

Like I've already mentioned, I'm a primary teacher in our church ward for the 4-5 yrs olds.
I LOVE IT.
Though, even after only 3 weeks I'm finding it definitely has its ups n' downs.
Like yesterday for instance...

I have a big class. Nine kids, consisting of a pair of twin girls and some very rowdy young boys. The twins are adorable but they never want to listen, cant sit still and they are always trying to escape the room. We have teachers at all four corners of the room and some by the door to stop these girls from running.
Last week I ran around, and around the building after them. NEVER. AGAIN.
Let's just all be grateful I decided on no heels that day!

So yesterday one of the twins "needed to go potty." Psh, "yeah right", I thought.
After asking a 2nd time I thought maybe she really did so I took her hand and we walked to the little girls room.
(At one point she told me I did't have to hold her hand because, "she wouldn't run away") Like I said, NEVER. AGAIN.

So, I don't know the bathroom rules or anything so I let the girl go in the stall alone.
Mistake numero uno, mi amigos.
She locks the door, and starts dancing around.
I tell her to sit down and go potty because we have to go back. After numerous times of telling her this, after 15 mins of her dancing around, making cat and dog noises and eating toilet paper (seriously) and me threatening to get her parents and telling them she is misbehaving I get NOTHING. She is still challenging me and not listening. So what did I do?
Well, PICTURE THIS:

I said, "VIV, PULL UP YOUR PANTS, UNLOCK THE DOOR AND COME OUT OR I'M COMING IN AND GETTING YOU!"
To which she replied with a little smirk, " You can't. It's still locked."
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED LITTLE TOT.

I got on the floor, climbed under the door, grabbed her pants and put them back on, took her hand, unlocked the door and walked out. Her face looked completely TERRIFIED.
She wasn't giving up that easily though.
I proceeded to drag this girl across the floor because she would not stand up and walk. I just kept thinking about how my adorable outfit I was wearing was now covered in  bathroom germs and I wanted to cry.
Of course, right then in all my glory, my husband walks up behind me with Haddie and says,

-"Babe, what are you doing?"
-"Don't talk to me right now I'm dealing with a bathroom mania situation!"-me

End of story.
 Funny right?

Yea, maybe for you.
